EAT WISE
“EAT WISE” is the name of a campaign that we set up at our school. Our intention was to promote a product that was not a “best-seller” but that in our opinion, should be. We know how bad too much junk food is. However, this kind of snacks are very succesful at break time. WHAT COULD WE DO? We decided to advertise sandwiches as the healthiest food you can have at break time.
CAMPAIGN STEPS:
1. Talk to the canteen staff and find out how many sandwiches are sold every day.
2. Think about how to advertise sandwiches at school (students go for print ads and life broadcasting).
3. Bearing in mind the message you want to put forward think of catchy slogans and eye-catching designs.
4. Create your advertisements.
5. Decide on the best place to put the advertisements and the best time for the broadcasting.
6. After a week, go back to the canteen and find out how many sandwiches have been sold during the campaign. After that, compare sales’ numbers and draw conlcusions.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
CAMPAIGN RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS:
First week (24th-28th January):
During the first week the sales were regular except for Monday and Wednesday that they raised because on Monday many families do not buy bread on Sunday and on Wednesday because many teachers stay in school for lunch.
Second week (31st January- 4th February)
In this week, after the advertisement campaign, the sales were influenced and the canteen sold more sandwiches than the week before. On Monday, the campaign did not have much impact, probably because it was the first day and the campaign was quite recent. On Tuesday, the live broadcasting was successful and increased the sellings in thirteen sandwiches more.
On Wednesday, our campaign was also successful among teachers and thirteen more sandwiches were sold.
Thursday, however, was the day in which the least sandwiches were sold in the whole week and we do not really know the reason. Nevertheless, it was a higher amount than the week before.
On Friday, the bar helped us in the last day of campaign, making a good offer for some hot sandwiches and this boosted the last day sales.
Our conclusions are that the advertisement campaign has increased the sandwiches sales and our campaign has worked, probably for the following reasons:
– It was something original and new to the school.
– There were a lot of posters and they were hanged up in placeswhere everybody could see them. When you see something you really feel like having it.
– It was a healthy and good-prized product.
– The relationship between quality and prize that canteen sandwiches offer, makes sandwiches the best product that can be purchased at school.
